I spoke too soon, Rural Sprout Readers.Â

Mother Nature had the best April Fool’s joke in store for us – it snowed on April 1st. Or as we Pennsylvanians call it onion snow.Â
As I was writing a post this week about getting good blueberry harvests, it occurred to me that growing something is simple. It truly is. But to grow it well? That’s another feat entirely. And it takes a special kind of person to do it.Â
Â
Â
Because as any gardener will tell you, simple doesn’t necessarily mean easy.
For instance, I share a rather controversial opinion in my post about growing blueberries in containers. As the popularity of container gardening and raised bed gardening continues to grow, we see more and more dwarf options coming to the market.Â
And while, yes, you can grow blueberries in containers, I argue that it’s not the best option if you want lots of blueberries.Â
Â
And isn’t that at the heart of gardening?Â
Â
What’s your best option? What works for you and your family? What’s the best method for your climate? For your soil?
Â
We gardeners are detectives.Â
Â
Every year we tweak and read up on the newest and oldest methods; we do this and try that thing our neighbor does with their plants, all trying to get the best possible result.
Â
And the next year, we do it all over again. See? Simple.
Â
We’re a resilient and stubborn lot, aren’t we? I think we’re pretty great in that regard.
As usual, I’ve chosen a few of our top posts from the past week. But don’t stop there; there’s plenty of other new posts to read over at Rural Sprout. And if you like the blueberry post, we’ll have the secrets to growing lots of strawberries coming up this week.Â
