Greetings, Rural Sprout readers,
There are crocuses in my backyard, friends! I love Pennsylvania in the springtime. I love it when all the redbuds are blossoming out, and you drive along 322, and it’s just a blur of pink. In a few weeks, my backyard will be a blur of yellow from all
the daffodils.
I’m ready! Bring on the color!
I took a stroll around the backyard in the sunshine yesterday afternoon just to take a peek at the flower beds and see what was starting to wake up. So far, it’s just my Autumn Joy stonecrop. But I love seeing those tightly furled buds of green.
They’re always nestled beneath the dead leaves, surrounded by the crunchy gray stems of the previous season’s blooms.
Amid all the decaying debris is a crop of tiny green buds of hope, promising a new start and a new season.

One of my plant-buying pet peeves is when plants come with labels that do more harm than good. Most of the time, it's just confusing or incomplete information. (Such as the blanket labeling of "ornamental

Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo var. cylindrica) is a popular mainstay in the home garden. And it's no wonder why - sow only one or two plants and you shall receive copious amounts of green, elongated fruit.
