Sniff, sniff. Hiya, Rural Sprout readers!

I have great news for all of you. Spring is officially here! Now, I know what you’re thinking, it’s only March 6th. Ah, well, my sinuses have confirmed that spring has arrived (despite what the calendar says). I am on day 10 of my annual spring cold. Yup, every spring and every fall I always get clobbered with a bad cold as the seasons change. (This one has been a doozy. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been this run down.)

Ha! Beat that, Punxsutawney Phil. 

So, now that my stuffed-up head and third empty tissue box have confirmed that spring is here, let’s get this gardening season going. Well, you know, as soon as my raised beds thaw and aren’t frozen bricks of soil anyway. And as soon as I can make it down the stairs for more tea without needing a nap.

In the meantime, Mickey the Amazing Perennial Whisperer has put together a list of all the perennials that need to be divided this time of year. Spring and fall are our windows for splitting perennials. (Aka, shopping for free plants in your own garden.) But not all perennials can be split in both seasons—some fare better when divided in the spring. Let’s take a look at those.
