This year, winter feels interminably long, and while my cats are enjoying long, cozy naps on every available flat surface, I am doing my best not to climb the walls.
Other than a few plants like peppers and artichokes, it’s still too early for me to start most of my indoor seedlings. My garden is frozen solid and buried under a foot of snow. So, yesterday, in a desperate bid for something green and growing, I pulled out my 3-gallon storage totes and planted radishes and lettuce, and stuck them under the grow lights downstairs.
That should tide me over
until it’s time to sow more indoor seeds and give me something lovely and green to fuss over while I wait for that last predicted frost date to arrive.
In the meantime, I’m already planning out what I’m going to plant outside just as soon as the ground thaws, even if there’s still snow in my garden!
