Along with grilling hot dogs and burgers, we’ll be getting all those final warm-weather crops planted. (And if I can coerce my kids into helping, mulching the front flower bed with wood chips.)
It occurred to me that this summer will bring an even bigger American holiday – the semiquincentennial. Already, there’s a low-key buzz leading up to the 250th Independence Day, this coming July. I got to thinking that this weekend would be the perfect time to add some patriotic pride to your flower beds. By the time July rolls around, these flowers will be in full bloom, just like the fireworks to come.
Mickey has graciously put together a list of alternatives for those of us who can’t grow lavender to save our lives. Not that I’m saying I’m part of that club.
