It's What's Up Wednesday!
We had a rainy fall day here yesterday, but boy did we need it. Luckily, I got my garlic planted about an hour before the clouds opened up. I didn’t have to worry about watering in my cloves; Ma Nature did it for me. Now, they’re all tucked in, mulched
and ready to pop up next spring. I can’t wait!
If you’re planting garlic this fall, or you’ve never tried it before but would like to, I’ve got you covered with a thorough how-to guide below.
However, before we get to garlic, I have something important I'd like to mention. My aunt in Wisconsin works with a small, local homeless shelter in her town, the Rusk County Lighthouse Shelters. Rural shelters such as these always run on thin margins, but they have had an especially tough year, with an electrical fire and other issues that require repairs. While the shelter addresses these issues, they have had to put people seeking
help in hotels or in neighboring county shelters. That adds up fast when budgets are already stretched thin.
It's put quite a strain on them, so they are reaching out to their community for help.Â
I thought we could help expand my aunt’s community a bit. If you can, please consider donating to their fundraiser by clicking here. Even if you can’t donate, please consider sharing the link on your Facebook page. I am constantly amazed at what happens when people come together; it takes so little from the individual to have a huge impact. Thanks, dear friends. Now, on to planting
garlic.
