Well, it looks as though the cold weather is here to stay. (Yay!) Verstappen and Yuki, my two little kittens from the litter that showed up in my spirea shrub a year and a half ago, have been much more cuddly with their 98.6-degree human lately, which
got me thinking about their mom, Maya.Â
The house I rent was previously rented by a much older man who passed away.Â
He watched over this little feral cat, leaving food out for her and leaving the garden shed door open a bit so she could get in out of the elements. When she showed up a month after I moved in, I asked my
landlady about her, and she told me the catâs story. I said I would continue to feed her and watch over her.Â
(I also trapped her after she left me her little present of four kittens in the spirea bush, and had her spayed.)
Last winter, I made her a cat shelter out of an Igloo cooler. But this year, I thought she deserved an
upgrade. Sheâs such a sweet little thing, and her kittens have brought me so much joy. I purchased this great little insulated outdoor cat shelter.Â
Â
It even has a little cozy heating pad that turns on when she lies down. Itâs on my back patio (her domain), sheltered and out of the elements. I put a few cat treats inside it and she took to it right away. Iâm so glad I bought it. I know sheâll be much more comfortable this winter, which gives me peace of mind.
