Hiya, Rural Sprout readers,Â
Another week has come and gone. It’s been quite a week, too. At one point, I had the windows open to air out the house, and six hours later, I turned the heat on and reached for my sweater. The wind has been unreal, as well. I keep waiting for the
house to lift off the foundation and spin us off to Oz.Â
Yet, it still seems like our last frost date is 392 weeks away.Â
It’s been a year since I moved into my new place, and because I have the space, I decided to redo my seed-starting setup completely. It was a wise move, as the Green Itch has been strong this season.Â
I’ve been itching to play in the dirt, and now I can.Â
I decided I didn’t want something temporary that would get packed up once the seedlings moved out to the garden. So, I bought one of those large, heavy-duty stainless steel shelving units and kitted it out with my favorite grow lights and my seedling
mats.  Now, not only do I have lots of room for seedlings, but I’m growing radishes and white turnips as well. I also have plenty of space to propagate everything from African violets to blueberry bush cuttings. So, instead of putting seedlings outside too early this year, I can head down to the basement to play in the dirt. Â
Of course, my "patience" might also have something to do with the fact that I still have to set up my raised beds. 😊
What are you doing to stave off the Green Itch until it’s time to start planting outdoors? Or are you somewhere where you’ve started your growing season? Â
