Hiya, Rural Sprout readers,Â
I’ve been spending a lot of time staring out my windows lately. Well, more so than usual. You see, despite all of my planning, I’m still not 100% certain about where I’m going to set up my raised beds in a couple of weeks.
I have a general idea, but I want to be sure.Â
So, I’ve been staring out the windows, watching the way the sun and shadows move across the lawn throughout the day. I know it will change when the trees leaf out.  I need to be extra sure about the spot where I decide to set up my raised beds. Once they’re filled, that’s it. They aren’t going anywhere. Â
I’m not used to this kind of permanence in gardening.Â
The inherent flexibility and forgiveness in gardening are some of the things that make it so appealing. It’s a relief to me that I can absolutely flub something up in the garden and get a do-over next year. Sometimes, you get a Mulligan even in the
same season.Â
Rarely do things go so sideways that a crop is a complete loss.Â
And I love that about this hobby. There’s grace in the dirt. Even when the veggies aren’t growing the way we want them to, we’re still growing a silver lining somewhere.  As we head into the 2025 gardening season proper, I wish you all a bountiful harvest with few weeds and fewer pests, and although we always get them, I hope you don’t need too many do-overs this year.Â
