Season’s Greetings, Rural Sprout readers,Â
We’re soon approaching our annual winter break. Longtime readers know that the Rural Sprout weekly newsletter stops for a couple of weeks over the Christmas and New Year stretch. This gives all of us here at Rural Sprout a chance to enjoy a long winter’s
nap.Â
It allows us to partake in the craziness of the holiday season, bopping around visiting our families. Â I always get restless in the week or so leading up to the
break. I’ve still got plenty of articles to write up, and I’m rushing to get those finished in time. I’m also redding up the house for Christmas (as my great-grandmother would say).  This year, the lead-up is especially interesting as I’m having new kitchen flooring installed. It’s a little bit harder to get your house ready for the holidays when the contents of your kitchen have been moved into the
dining room, and the stove is sitting out on the back patio.
I’ve been eating a lot of instant ramen and pizza this week.Â
We also took delivery of a number of pieces of furniture for the boys’ room. They desperately needed shelving and vertical storage. It’s flat-pack furniture, so of course, it needs to be assembled, one over-simplified diagram at a
time.Â
With everything happening inside my home, you would think it would be bedlam.Â
Well, if you ignore the dining room and the kitchen and the boys’ room, it’s not. While things are certainly a bit cramped at the moment, the atmosphere is one of serene festivity. (If those two descriptors can inhabit the same sentence.) I keep
reminding myself that I still have plenty of time and that I don’t need to do everything all in one night. It’s helped me to slow down and enjoy my favorite time of year in less-than-ideal circumstances.Â
As we head into the final week before the annual Rural Sprout winter break and the impending holidays, I’d like to take a moment to remind you, my friend:Â
You still have plenty of time.  You don’t need to do everything all in one night.  What can you do to cultivate your own serene festivity?  I’ll see you on Wednesday. Â
