Itās the final week of November, and those of us here in the States will be celebrating Thanksgiving this coming Thursday. I find myself contemplating all I have to be grateful for quite a bit these days. I guess thatās as it should
be.Ā
Thanksgiving should be a mindset, not just a holiday once a year.Ā
As you have been for the past five years, the Rural Sprout readers always feature high up on the list of things for which Iām thankful. I canāt tell you how wonderful it is to hear from readers throughout the year, with your questions or stories of
gardening successes or struggles, or even just a quick note to let us know how much you appreciate Rural Sprout.Ā
Hearing from you each Sunday makes my day.
As many of us are taking a well-earned rest from gardening this time of year, itās a great time to take stock of all the things there are to be thankful for where our gardens are concerned. This was a tough year for me in the garden, and it led to some
big decisions. But Iām glad of the struggle, as I learned a lot. Next spring is a whole new opportunity to try something new, and Iām grateful for that, too. Ā As I get ready for the holidays, Iām thankful for the jars of jam lined up on my shelves and the turnips, kale, spinach and radishes growing under cover in my raised bed. Most importantly, Iām thankful I grew up with my hands in the dirt, learning
to grow things from an early age.Ā Ā
