I’m going to do my absolute best to show some restraint. I wonder if The Engineer could rig up a klaxon siren to go off if any of the seedlings are removed from their trays before the first week of May?
Â
In the meantime, our mild winter has sent up a flush of mushrooms. I spotted an old
downed log with quite a growth of Chicken of the Woods coming along. Another day or two, and it should be a decent size to harvest some.

There are plenty of wild things to forage in early spring. It’s always nice to get out and enjoy those first fresh, green foods before anything in the garden is ready.Â
Â
I’m hoping for a bumper crop of dandelions in the garden paths this spring as I’m down to my last jar of homemade pickled dandelion capers. They were a big hit, so I’m hoping to be able to make an extra jar or two this year. Â
