Well, it will be in a couple of months anyway. Right now, everything is gray. All of our snow has melted away, and we’re experiencing a strange midwinter thaw.
Everything always looks so bedraggled without the blanket of snow. It covers a multitude of sins. And all of the dog poop
that didn’t get picked up on the curb.
I remember back when I worked at Penn State, once the snow would thaw, I would go for a long walk on my lunch break and count all of the tubes of lip balm lying on the edge of the sidewalks in the last bit of leftover snow.
How many poor souls had reached into their pocket, hoping to soothe their wind-chapped lips, only to realize they had lost their lip balm in a snowbank?
