Hi there, Rural Sprout readers,Â
Another week has come and gone, and here we are at the beginning of March. How are your seedlings coming along? Have you planted anything outside yet?  I think I’m going to get my garlic in the ground sometime in the coming week. I know most folks plant their garlic in the fall, but I
never got around to it. I had such amazing results after planting my garlic in the spring last year that it might become my preferred method.  Â
I’m pretty good at forgetful gardening.
I saved quite a few bulbs from our harvest this summer, and they’ve been cold-stratifying in the garage. Now, I only need the rain to stop. All the hens have picked up laying again except for Dandelion. I’ve chased her out of the nest box a few times this week. We had a discussion about going
broody, and how there was nothing for her to hatch, so she’d be better off in the yard with the other girls eating all the bugs that are waking up.  Â
We’ll see if she gets the hint.Â
Unpacking is going, well, it’s going. Let’s leave it at that. It’s been a rainy week, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the sound of the rain on a roof again. Having been sandwiched between the first and third floors in my old apartment building, it’s a nice change.  With this warmer
weather and all this rain, I’m sure it will only be a few weeks before a magenta blush sweeps the hillsides with all the redbuds in bloom. Spring is certainly underway here in Pennsylvania, and I’m thoroughly looking forward to this year’s growing season. How about you, my friend?  P.S. Have you seen Cheryl's amazing cob oven? I'm in awe!
