Hello there, Rural Sprout readers,
How are you? Did you enjoy your holidays? Thank you to all of our wonderful readers who reached out to us with Christmas and New Year greetings. It’s always nice to hear from you. My family and I had a lovely Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Most of us managed to avoid getting sick. Santa
left presents under the tree, attesting to everyone’s good behavior last year.
And now, we turn our attention to 2024. What will this year hold for each of us?
I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions, so I don’t have anything in particular I’m striving for at the moment. Other than not eating all the leftover Christmas chocolate by myself. I don’t know about you, but I’m trying to shake off the post-holiday slump. I always struggle those first couple of
weeks in the new year. After all of the time and energy invested in preparing for Christmas and traveling and visiting with friends and family, January seems to create a void.
Suddenly, it’s all done. It’s quiet.
It’s hard to shift gears so quickly. I always tend to get a bit fidgety this time of year, especially in the evenings. Despite each day getting incrementally longer, the January nights seem the longest to me. With all the cheery Christmas decorations packed away, the
apartment feels a bit emptier than usual.
This year, especially as we’re moving out of town and closer to my sweetie.
I’ll miss growing flowers and herbs on my balcony, but I’m happy I’ll only be a couple of miles from Andy, the garden, and the chickens. And it will be nice not to lug groceries up two flights of stairs anymore. Hooray for a house with a yard! So, along with decorations being put away,
the general packing up of the apartment has begun. I’m looking forward to all of the new adventures I’ll be able to share with all of you in 2024.
How about you, my friends? What new adventures do you have planned for this year?
