Hiya Rural Sprout readers,Â
By the time you read this, I will be at the beach for a chilly fall weekend getaway. I’m going to stand at the edge of the Atlantic and allow the sea breeze to clear out my sinuses and blow my stress away, along with my hat.  Thanks to everyone who wrote in this past weekend with their favorite soups. The sheer variety of soups we can make with the goodies from our garden is incredible. It’s
my go-to meal this time of year.  We’ve had quite a bit of rain this past week, so I’m hoping to find a decent-sized hen of the woods mushroom for my favorite fall soup. Â
Wild cream of mushroom soup.Â
I’m looking forward to the drive out to the coast. This past week, it was as though someone threw a switch, and the leaves turned on. The hillsides have been brushed with gold, red, and green around our valley. The rainy weather brought soft patches of fog here and there. Â
The hills positively glowed; it was beautiful.Â
This time of year, there is a natural pause. We’re closing our gardens down and gearing up for the winter holidays. But not just yet, not right now. There is a chance to pause and simply be. Â
I hope you do that, my friend.Â
I hope you find space and time over the next few weeks to get outdoors and notice the beauty around you, changing leaves or not.  Take a few moments to ground yourself and reconnect; after all, that’s what your garden is doing.  I’m looking forward to more time for knitting now that the hustle and bustle of the garden is finished. What are some of the activities you look
forward to in the off-season? Do you have hobbies that you do only in the cooler months? How many of you keep a portion of your garden growing through the winter? Â
