I felt terribly guilty last weekend about sharing my frustrations with my garden this year.

But I was
amazed at all the folks who wrote to share their frustrations with this season. Or all the ways you get yourselves back in the gardening game. Â

For me, it’s a walk in the garden
barefoot.Â

There is something wonderful about the feel of sun-warmed soil beneath your feet, especially on a hot day when the soil is quite toasty.

I kicked off my garden clogs and took a stroll around the garden. I had a nice chat with the peppermint and the
yarrow. I pulled some weeds and sighed a great big sigh. Â
Â
My garden is what it is this year.Â
Â
Everything is behind because of the weird spring we had, followed by weeks of drought. I will not have homegrown shishito or poblano peppers this year because I lost them on the third late frost. The eggplants are already inundated with flea beetles.
Â
But the garlic looks lovely. Our new location for growing pumpkins seems to be working even
better than we thought it would. And the drip irrigation has been a lifesaver (as well as a water saver). Â

This is the great thing about gardening - even when something goes wrong,
there’s still a lot that goes right.Â
