As the sun shifts, it hits different areas of my home at different times of the day now. While many of my houseplants will go dormant this time of year, a few seem to spring to life about now.

My holiday cactuses, both the Christmas and Thanksgiving, are in the process of budding out. And it’s about this time
of year I move my African violets back onto the windowsill.Â

During the summer, it’s much too hot for them there, and they get sunburned. There is something they like about the sun they receive there this time of year and will bloom continuously. Granted, it took me years to figure out how to accomplish this, but now I rarely have violets that aren’t in bloom.

articles this week being about houseplants, I thought it might not be a bad idea to share a few extra pieces about getting those fickle violets and holiday cactuses to bloom.Â
